Safeguarding & Pastoral Care

Aylesbury Grammar School takes its responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of students very seriously and believes that the safety and wellbeing of students is of paramount importance.

No one feels lost in a crowd at AGS due to our effective vertical and horizontal pastoral care systems. The well being of students is everyone’s responsibility and this includes the Senior Leadership Team, Tutors, Heads of Year, Heads of House, our Student Support Team and Student Welfare Officer.

We are very proud of our House and Prefect systems that embody both our tradition and forward-looking ethos.

Excellent behaviour and smart presentation are standards that are strongly encouraged, and we work with both parents and students to bring the best out of each student who joins our school.

We hope that each student, on leaving AGS, will have developed a rounded character, ready to continue with the next stage of their life – whatever that might be. Our curriculum and development of the love of learning have helped make our public examination results outstanding, but the most important thing is to see each student happy, safe and able to develop their potential.

If a student, parent, visitor or member of staff has a safeguarding concern or is concerned about the well-being of a child, they should report it.

Students should feel able to speak to any member of staff who they feel comfortable talking to; alternatively, if they wish to report a concern they can do so, anonymously, on our Concern Form.

Staff, visitors or other adults should feel able to speak to the DSL, ADSL or the Headmaster about any safeguarding concerns; alternatively, if they have a wider safeguarding concern they should follow the advice in the Whistleblowing Policy.
